· business logic

We build for today and for tomorrow by:

· Implementing forward-thinking yet stable and proven technologies

· Integrating with existing products and services using open standards such as XML

· Constantly researching and planning for future growth and technological progress.
  · e-commerce

Happyworm offers customised, complete e-commerce and e-business solutions that enable on-line ordering and payment processing, content management and order tracking.

We create web-based applications for site management, which allow non-technical staff to control the content of a custom built system that provides an efficient and cost effective way to:

· Use and share the information across the company

· Communicate with clients and vendors

· Keep web site content current.

· design philosophy

The web-based solutions that we build usually comprise of three tiers:
'front end', 'middleware' and 'back end'.

With a team of highly motivated people with strong web skills complimenting each other, Happyworm is experienced in all aspects of web-based design and is proud to combine an innovative graphical design with the solid foundations of carefully constructed middle and bottom tiers.

Our design approach is both modular and iterative; we adhere to Object Oriented Development methodologies and shape our systems around the client, allowing their involvement at all stages, thus maximising client and user fulfilment.

Our solutions are designed to be scaleable and highly flexible. We take maximum advantage of open standards and open source technologies allowing ourselves the option of choosing the best technologies in each class.

This philosophy has the added bonus of keeping costs to a minimum, while benefiting from the huge amounts of support available on the Internet for open source and standards.

In turn, these benefits and savings are passed onto the client.

Turin Student Benefits

University of Turin
  The Brief:
Following the success of EDISU-Web 2001 - the online student application form, and in response to the growing demand of quality web-based services within the university, Happyworm was asked back to take the challenge to the next level.

The Project:
Again integrating with the University's existing systems and databases, Happyworm enhanced graphics and functionality in their redesign of the
application and introduced a web-based administration module to facilitate the validation of the on-line application form by the university staff, allowing at the same time for secure third party data input. Moving from PHP to Java/JSP guaranteed increased flexibility and stability.

The Results:
The application has now been implemented by 5 Universities within the Torino area, used by over 3000 students and was featured on Italian Television news.

· example of the database

The Brief:
To design, structure and develop a philosophical database that would contain Greek and modern day philosophers' texts including comments, notes, bibliography and more. The philosophical texts should be easily authored and pulled in dynamically into the web site. The database would present the texts according to the content and logical structure of the philosophical argumentation and would allow users to
display different levels of texts according to their interests.

The Project:
Happyworm designed the database as a series of collapsible levels easily and quickly accessible from every browser. Great emphasis has been given to the usability and the interaction between content and interface. In order to achieve the greatest flexibility a new flavour of XML was developed in conjunction with the University: PhilML, recognised as a standard by XML.org the industry web portal.
